REFLECTION

In class, we had a few peer review amongst ourselves for our Literature review and for the proposal. We all saw our classmates work to see how everyone was doing, but another reason was to see if maybe we missed something that could have helped us on our own.so this caused us to relook over our work to make it better. With others looking at our work, they critique our work on what they thought we should add or take away to make our work better. I believed that our work was good because I believed in my group members that we could do a good job. For instance, on our literature review, we was told that we needed to add more information to certain topics because we each did a subtopic to the main topic.

As a group, we were aware of what we wanted to talk about and about the audience. The topic was something that still happens in our and many other colleges, so we decided to use that to help and guide us. Since we chose a good topic, we decided to use that topic for both works, which meant we already had everything we needed but we just had to expand more on it. With that said, it was easier to us cause we already had our topic and audience at the same time.

Having the audience we chose made it easier and it was a good thing because it was something that needed to be promoted more around the communities.

During our process, we made time outside of class to meet with each other to work on our topics. There was a time in between our schedules that gave us good time was it was enough to get a lot of work done. We also had a group chat on our phones to communicate outside of school as well, not to mention sharing a google doc where all of our work can be shown to everyone at once. These methods worked out nicely where we could get a lot of work done in a day. Class time was always one place to get work done and questions answered because we had the teachers and our peers there to help if needed.

When we was trying to pick a topic, we decided to use something that was around us and that was alcohol abuse with college students. We talked about how alcohol could affect students with their school work and life outside of school. For example, when we was trying to pick a topic, we decide to pick a problem that isn’t talked about as much and we thought our about our age group and decided on alcohol. A lot of students drink alcohol in college, so we decided to talk about what happens to the students.

To find what we needed for our topic, we needed many sources to help us write our pieces. We tried different databases and websites like ccny library and google scholar. With these, we were able to find many articles on our topic and we used the articles between 5-6 years to now. For our literature review, we each needed four sources from each person to put together 24 pages.

For many of our articles that we came across, we felt that the ones we picked were more credible because of the information that  was given and it also came along with statistics. For example, there were many articles that underwent experiments with the subtopics that we did. There were articles that had other citations to other articles of the same topics that really helped us as well. Thus showed that it was credible which meant we could use them to write our work.
